Ampelio Gian Redutto
Ampelio Gian Redutto, age 56, passed away unexpectedly on October 2, 2024. His passing is an overwhelming loss to his wife, friends, family, and the greater community.
Ampelio Gian Redutto was born in Queens, NY, on February 24, 1968. He was a strapping, energetic young boy who grew into a determined man filled with hopes, dreams, and a desire to conquer the world.
Ampelio was extremely intelligent, earning a full academic scholarship to the prestigious Loyola Marymount University in Westchester, California. He graduated with Honors and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications; he was a proud alumni member of LMU.
Ampelio had a keen understanding of business, making him an ingenious businessman. Early on, he owned his own business and was part owner and operator of Three Sons Pizzeria in Maspeth, Queens, NY, and later part owner-operator of a Mrs. Fields Cookies franchise in Torrance, California. Ampelio was presently working side by side in real estate with his beloved wife, Lori.
Ampelio was a devoted husband and best friend to his wife, Lori Wayne, having recently celebrated 21 years of marriage to each other and their commitment to God, and a quarter-century since their courtship began. Ampelio presented every good attribute of a committed husband in his marriage to Lori. He never missed an opportunity to tell others just how much he loved his wife, Lori—qualities that truly make a marriage endure.
Ampelio was an avid traveler, traveling the world in his earlier years is what opened his heart to Italy and the Mediterranean. Ampelio’s heart belonged to Lori and to Rome, Italy; it is where his dreams were and where he planned to live out his twilight years with Lori. His passion was so intense that even local Romans recognized it as special and encouraged him to come, live, work, and enjoy. Ampelio intended to make this dream come true and with every endeavor and essence of his being, he began the hard work to put things in motion to accomplish it.
In Ampelio’s youth, he was passionate about commercial aviation, making models, tarmacs, and recreating airports from around the globe. After the production of Airbus’ A350-900 and A350-1000, he declared these his favorite aircraft. And yes, of course, he absolutely loved Alitalia too! Ampelio always said you can tell a lot about a country by looking at its airlines—so true!
Ampelio had an encyclopedic mind for great music, he was inspired by the classics. He was a huge Peabo Bryson fan (If Ever You’re in My Arms Again), Iron Maiden (Wasted Years), Journey (Send Her My Love), Crosby Stills & Nash (Southern Cross), Seals & Croft (Summer Breeze), Paul Davis (I Go Crazy), Player (Baby Come Back), Dave Mason (We Just Disagree), Jeff Lynne’s ELO (Telephone Line), 38 Special (Caught Up in You), Gino Vannelli (Living Inside Myself), Ozzy (Crazy Train), Crosby Stills & Nash (Just a Song Before I Go), to be brief.
Ampelio was a good soul in the truest sense. He was not selfish—there wasn’t a selfish bone in his body. He was quiet, kind, gentle, wise beyond his years, and had a grand sense of humor. People always commented on his in-depth knowledge on any topic and his masterful communication skills. The man knew how to talk! At the same time, his gentle personality put people at ease, and once they moved past any inhibition, they loved him. He possessed a true gift in handling others.
Ampelio is survived by his beloved spouse, Lori Wayne, of Las Vegas. He is survived by a host of extended family: Toni Hagood, Jerry, Paige, Caden, and Ryland Riniker; the Odoms: Laura, Ken, Jack, John, Joe, Joshua, Jason, and Justin. Friends who loved him dearly: Shiori Hiyama, Ray Knabbe, Richard Knabbe, Brian de Deus, Ann Knabbe, Eric Schaffer, Claire Griley- Schaffer, Greg Allen, Pamela Brown and countless others from coast to coast. Ampelio is survived by many friends in San Giovanni: Luca, Atilio, Bernardo, Carlos, Bottega Giorgio, Due-Peroni, The Arab, Saiful, and the many beautiful people of Roma who warmly welcomed him with open arms. Ampelio is also survived by first cousins James Reduto of Scarsdale, NY, Eva Reduto Sanchez, Annie Eugenia Reduto Connally, Chrisa Reduto Bowser, and Anita Giamballuca Reduto (aunt). Ampelio is preceded in death by his parents Nancy and Thomas Wayne, brother Tomi J. Wayne, Eugene Reduto (uncle) and in-laws Kenneth and Phyllis Odom.
Ampelio lived as an obedient servant; he was kind, gentle, soft-spoken, and non- confrontational. As a water sign, Ampelio had a fluid spirit, and his personality was buoyant and salient. He will forever endure in our hearts as an ethereal spirit with a legacy of pure love. Our community has suffered a great loss; they have yet to discover the magnitude of losing this
good soul. Eternal Memory Ampelio, Rest in Peace my love.

You will forever be loved and missed. Thank you for everything uncle el. I’ll miss the jokes and laughter. ❤️
Thank you, dear Laura, you know your Uncle Elio loved you very much and wanted everything and that is good for you. He was truly a crafty, witty guy, naturally funny, all the time!
My dear Eliot child hood friend since I known since I was new born baby you will be missed so much here now you are in the hands of god love you always ❤️❤️
Dear Anne, Elio loved you and always had a special place in his heart just for you. He is indeed in the Good hands of God! Love you.
My heart aches for this very special man and his sweet Lori who he adored. When I heard of the passing of Ampelio I was confused, never thinking it was my bigger than life tower of great health. We just never know. I affectionately called him E, I told him if it was good enough for Elvis it’s good enough for him.
Though I know many people I have only a very small circle of special people that I chose to call friend. He was certainly a member of that circle. When you lose a member of that tight circle it stings painfully. I have been stung, he will be a special memory that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. We respected and loved one another like family, and we weren’t afraid to let it be known. Lori I love you with all my heart and I will always be here for you, that I’m sure you know. ❤️❤️
Dera Donny T, you know Ampelio was a loyal, respectful friend. The two of you had a special bond and that lasts forever. You also know he hated the name Elvis but he was willing to roll with it just because it was you! We love you, he will be terribly missed by many, especially me!
Your tribute is a beautiful reflection of the love you have for each other and the dedication you shared
Thank you both for your kind words and the joys that we shared together in Vegas and in Rome. Ampelio was a buon intenditor, poche parole, and always committed to l’arte di arrangiarsi.
Thank you Julia. Most appreciate your continued prayers for Eternal Memory and for me too.
