Karen Deering 71, passed away peacefully at home the morning of July 22nd, 2022. Karen was born on March 22, 1951 to Alberta and Edward Bailey in Scottsbluff , Nebraska.
Karen eventually settled in Las Vegas and spent 22 years working for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department at the Clark County Detention Center from 1987 to 2009 when she retired as Inmate Services Supervisor. During her 22 years at CCDC, she worked with many people whom she cared for deeply and was very proud to be part of the LVMPD family. She made many wonderful long lasting friendships on the department whom she loves and they will miss her dearly.
More than anything, Karen loved her family and those she considered family. Being a devoted mother and Grandmother (Nana) was, by far, her favorite thing. She loved her entire family beyond words and was so proud of them all. Karen also enjoyed reading, watching scary movies with her Granddaughter and old black & white movies, and was a big Nebraska Cornhusker Fan. She was a great cook and loved to bake but will be remembered most for her famous Fudge which was an annual tradition.
Karen was many things. She was full of life and love, had a heart of gold, she was intelligent, articulate, loyal and most of all she loved the Lord. She believed that all things were possible with faith which was the source of her love and devotion. She believed there were three important things in life: God, Family and Friends.
She is survived by her son Greg (Aliz), Grandchildren Gage, Bailey and Tarran, and Great-Grandchildren Luna and Dylan all of Tucson. Her Brothers Danny (Terry), Wayne (Carol) and Sister-in-Law Bev and many Nieces and Nephews all of Nebraska. She leaves behind Lourdes “Lou” Cruz with whom she shared over 25 years of adventures with. She was Preceded in Death by her Parents, Brother Earl Bailey and Nephew Bryan Bailey.
Local Services will be held Saturday, August 13th at 1pm at Living Grace Foursquare Church 4025 N Rancho Drive. Later Services will be in Scottsbluff, Nebraska with Inurnment in Gering West Lawn Cemetery.
