Brandon Gary Sundell
1991 – 2025
In the early morning hours of January 2, 2025, Brandon “Bubba” Sundell passed away from complications of Dravet Syndrome. Brandon passed at home, surrounded by loved ones. Born to Diana and Wade Sundell on August 8, 1991, Brandon was the only boy and the youngest of three (and the favorite child, despite Mom and Dad’s denials), with two older sisters who absolutely adored their favorite baby brother.
Raised in Sandy, Utah, and Las Vegas, Nevada, Brandon attended Jordan Valley School in Midvale, Utah, until 2000, when the family moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. Once in Las Vegas, Brandon attended John F. Miller, where he graduated in 2009 and aged out of the program in 2013. After school, Brandon joined his sister, Ashlee, at daycare programs around the valley, where they were cared for by wonderful staff and where the family met new loving friends.
Brandon supposedly had “special needs,” but for those who knew him, that label was clearly just a social construct used to fool those who didn’t know better. Brandon was a very smart young man who loved books and puzzles (because he was a total nerd, despite Mom and Dad’s denials). He had the most beautiful smile that lit up his whole face, if not the entire room, and melted the hearts of anyone fortunate enough to be on the receiving end.
Brandon loved to take long car rides anywhere, but his favorite place was the beach, specifically South Padre Island, Texas. The closer a wave came to drowning him, the happier he was. Brandon loved listening to Queen; when their songs came on the radio, he would bop his head in approval. Brandon was the sweetest and purest soul to grace our lives, and we will be lost without him.
Brandon was preceded in death by his father, Wade; his grandmothers, Mary Mata, and Roylance Terry; his grandfather, Shirl Sundell; his Uncle, Jack Sundell; and his cousins, Austin Lang and Kiniki Sepulveda. Brandon is survived by his mother, Diana; sisters Dañelle and Ashlee; his much more than just a sister-in-law, Kristy; his Aunts and Tías Debbie (Steve), Delia, Dolores (Dave), Darlene, Tammy (Randy), and Kelli; and many cousins and extended family who are grieving his loss.
His viewing and rosary will be held on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at McDermott’s, 240 S. Decatur Blvd., Suite 135, Las Vegas, NV 89107. The viewing will take place from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., with the rosary to follow from 7:30 to 8:00 p.m. His funeral mass will be held on Monday, January 13, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Prince the Peace Catholic Church, located at 5485 E. Charleston Blvd., Las Vegas, NV 89142.
We love you, Bubba!

I only met Brandon a few times and he was always smiling. He brought such a light to everyone he met. God’s Angel is back home in Heaven with his loved ones, watching over those left behind.
